Why I Built This Site Por qué creé este sitio

I was brought to the United States when I was four years old. I grew up here. I went to school here. I made friends, built dreams, and found love here. But because I was born in Mexico, I’ve always carried the weight of not feeling like this country is truly mine—even though I have no idea what life in Mexico would even be like. Me trajeron a Estados Unidos cuando tenía cuatro años. Crecí aquí. Fui a la escuela aquí. Hice amigos, construí sueños y encontré amor aquí. Pero como nací en México, siempre he llevado la carga de no sentir que este país es realmente mío, aunque no tengo idea de cómo sería la vida en México.

I live under DACA. And like so many others, I’ve spent years navigating the fear, uncertainty, and invisibility that comes with being undocumented in a country that both raised me and rejects me. Vivo bajo DACA. Y como muchos otros, he pasado años navegando el miedo, la incertidumbre y la invisibilidad que conlleva ser indocumentado en un país que me crió pero que también me rechaza.

For a long time, I felt like I had to stay silent. That changed when I shared my story—and others began sharing theirs with me. In that exchange, I found something powerful: connection, healing, and the reminder that I’m not alone. Durante mucho tiempo sentí que tenía que quedarme en silencio. That’s why I created Dreamers Unidos. Especially now—under an administration that is openly targeting immigrants, encouraging racism, and pushing fascist policies—I needed to find a way to resist. While others can take to the streets, I often can’t. But I can create this space. I can amplify our voices. I can help ensure our stories don’t disappear. Por eso creé Dreamers Unidos. Especialmente ahora, bajo una administración que ataca abiertamente a los inmigrantes, fomenta el racismo y promueve políticas fascistas, necesitaba encontrar una forma de resistir. When I visited Ellis Island in New York, I stood where generations of immigrants once arrived full of hope. I held onto that vision—the one we were all taught: that America is the land of the free, a home for anyone seeking a better life, no matter their race, gender, or origin. Cuando visité Ellis Island en Nueva York, estuve donde generaciones de inmigrantes llegaron llenos de esperanza. Me aferré a esa visión—la que todos aprendimos: que América es la tierra de la libertad, un hogar para cualquiera que busque una vida mejor, sin importar su raza, género u origen.

Dreamers Unidos is a platform created by and for immigrants—especially those who live undocumented, in fear, or in silence. Dreamers Unidos es una plataforma creada por y para inmigrantes, especialmente aquellos que viven indocumentados, con miedo o en silencio.

Our goal is simple: to make sure no one feels invisible. Nuestro objetivo es simple: asegurarnos de que nadie se sienta invisible.

This is a space where we can share our lived experiences and speak truth to a system that often tries to erase us. Through our stories, we build community, protect each other, and remind the world that we are more than statistics or headlines—we are human beings with dreams, families, pain, and power.
